There stands a house in the forest where the wind blows and 'monsters' frighten children. A man lives in this house, as well as a number of spirits. The Magical Forest of Hoshigahara is a Ghibli-esque, cozy tale about a man who lives within a mysterious forest alongside a group of colorful spirits. An emotional narrative that juxtaposes cute and whimsical supernatural elements with heart-tugging themes of loneliness and loss, it is a complete five-volume story with a definitive beginning and end. Created by award-winning author Hisae Iwaoka, best known for Saturn Apartments (Grand Prize, Japan Media Arts Festival 2011), and originally serialized in Nemuki alongside works from Junji Ito, The Magical Forest of Hoshigahara is a warm, thoughtful read for fans of Mushishi, Natsume's Book of Friends, and Yotsuba&!. Age Rating: T (Teens). Contains emotional themes of loneliness and loss.
